SOUVENIR CHILDRENS FOUNDATION OF HAITI INC

Our mission is to create opportunities for Haitian children to build a path out of poverty by providing a Christian based educational foundation necessary to achieve self-sustaining development. The Foundation is active in Haiti because the educational needs of that country are monumental. Haiti has a literacy rate of only 50%. It is one of the lowest-ranked countries in the world for national spending on education that is why what we are doing is so important.

RELIEF FOR KIDS IN HAITI

Charles & Terri McEndree traveled to Haiti in April of 2010, 4 months after the devastating 7.0 magnitude earthquake on January 12, 2010. Terri, who is an OB/GYN physician and Charles is a registered nurse working in hospital operations, were so touched by the suffering and devastation that was left in the wake of the quake, that they were moved to donate their time, energy, and skills to those in need. They decided that they would like to find some way to help others, since the need was so great. While they were there, amidst the devastation, they found individuals wanting to help to find relief for those suffering around them. One of those individuals giving aid that they met, was their translator – Marc Arthur Francois.

LOVING HAITI ONE CHILD AT A TIME

At Loving Haiti One Child at a Time, we like to use every opportunity we have to uplift the Haitian community. We take part in several events and craft shows every year where we display and sell Haitian made metal art which we purchase directly from artisans in Croix- des- Bouquets. This helps to support the local economy and provide sustainable income for the artists. Our organization is committed to improving the lives of children in Haiti through education, healthcare, and community development projects. We believe that every child deserves a chance to reach their full potential and we work towards making that a reality for children in Haiti.
